I have structured my skills and expertise across four broad domains. These demonstrate the breadth of my practice and showcase the different ways my skills can be applied. I hope it emphasise that my approach is adaptable and ever evolving to work in different contexts and across different industries.
Research and design

I lead mixed method research projects and have worked with fishermen, health professionals, infrastructure asset managers and community groups to inform the design of new products and and services. I can plan and lead research projects, conduct in-context and remote interviews and synthesise research into findings you can do something with – that turn into tangible and outcomes, not just summary reports. I work best leading multidisciplinary design teams with visual designers who bring learnings to life.
Participation and facilitation

I can design and facilitate opportunities that bring different groups together to enable collective decision making and co-design. I love a gathering, and have a big belief in public participation and in the power of deliberative conversation and dialogue which I grew as a Participation Lead at Adur & Worthing Councils. I have designed and led public statutory consultations as well as participatory workshops. My work considers the necessary changes within organisations to develop new forms of governance and increase community power.
Capability and community building

We’re all treading unknown waters and there is a need for collective skills building. To do this, we need communities of practice which I can help to create. Together with Ness Wright, I established The Design + Climate Community which supports designers to think about how to adapt their practice to bring climate considerations into their work. Together we have evolved this learning into the Designing Sustainable Services course offered through The School of Good Services.
Long-time thinking and strategy

By brining climate considerations into any brief, I can help teams and decision makers frame questions over the long-time and adapt strategies to develop more climate conscious organisations. This helps to build organisational awareness and collective resilience.
Build roof gardens and community orchards

Through my personal promise to ‘deliver more than reports’, I am now building more things. Together with Will Sandy, I am transforming a flat roof in St Leonards into a community garden. I have recently gained a Certificate in Community Orcharding (CICO) from The Orchard Project and I want to continue to explore projects in urban growing, designing with water and creating beauty through food and flowers that are accessible to everyone.
